New RED Workflow Software – Sync RMD Files

August 12th, 2012 / By Angelo Lorenzo / No Comments

Our public beta is now closed

If you make adjustments to RED .R3D files in Redcine-X on a regular basis then you’re familiar with RMD metadata files. If you have backups of your footage across multiple hard drives then you know there is no easy way to keep these RMD files synced without using a general file sync utility that exposes your footage to possible harm.

I’ve come up with a new utility that will sync RMD files perfectly across multiple backups by comparing the RED folder structure. If a source clip doesn’t have an RMD file, for instance, then the deletion will carry over to the destination drive as well. Log files come complete with MD5 hashes of each file copied, an industry standard for tracking down corrupt data.

This is a beta evaluation that expires October 15th, 2012 before we turn it into a commercial product. Give it a try, and leave your comments below.
